Hiệp hội Báo chí nước ngoài tại Hollywood (HFPA) đã công bố danh sách đề cử Quả Cầu Vàng lần thứ 72. Bốn diễn viên Kate Beckinsale, Paula Patton, Jeremy Piven và Peter Krause đã cùng nhau xướng tên những ứng cử viên ở 25 hạng mục.
“Birdman” dẫn đầu danh sách với 7 đề cử. Trong khi đó, đối thủ nặng kí nhất của bộ phim này là “Boyhood” và “The Imitation Game” cùng nhận được 5 đề cử. “Gone Girl” cùng “Selma” lần lượt bỏ túi 4 đề cử trong danh sách. Một ứng viên khác là “Big Eyes” của đạo diễn Tim Burton cũng nhận được 3 đề cử.

Quả Cầu Vàng 2015 không chỉ chứng kiến sự cạnh tranh liệt ở hạng mục Nam chính xuất sắc nhất, Quả Cầu Vàng còn cho thấy cuộc đua tranh ở hạng mục Đạo diễn xuất sắc nhất. Trong đó, nhà làm phim “Selma” Ava DuVerney đã trở thành người phụ nữ da màu đầu tiên nhận được đề cử ở hạng mục này.
Ngược lại, các ứng viên tiềm năng Oscar như “American Sniper” của đạo diễn Clint Eastwood hay “Unbroken” do nữ diễn viên Angelina Jolie đạo diễn đều không được xướng tên ở các hạng mục. Ba bất ngờ ở hạng mục phim điện ảnh thuộc về “Annie”, “The Hundred-Foot Journey” và “Pride”.
Ở lĩnh vực phim truyền hình, ngoài những cựu binh như “Homeland”, “Veep”, “The Good Wife”, “House of Cards”, HFPA tôn vinh hàng loạt những dự án mới như “The Affair”, “Jane the Virgin”, “Silicon Valley”, “Transparent”.
Lễ trao giải sẽ diễn ra vào ngày 11/1/2015 tại khách sạn Bervely Hilton. Hai nữ diễn viên hài Amy Poehler và Tina Fey sẽ lần thứ hai liên tiếp đóng vai trò người dẫn chương trình.
